Human Wonder with Dr. Amy Redmond
Oana and Ray talk to Dr Amy Redmond about life, motherhood, entrepreneurial spirit, taking risks, following dreams and so so much more!
At the heart of Dr Amy Redmond’s work has always been a desire to help people thrive. She is here to help start-ups and people with big goals achieve their potential and thrive, through coaching and innovation psychology. Purveyor of optimism. Seeker of fun. Vendor of new perspectives.
Amy has spent 25 years studying and working in the field of psychology and behaviour. A Bsc in Psychology, and an Msc in Occupational Psychology secured her first much-loved role as a business psychologist. In that role she learned about the nuances of organisations and saw first-hand how a company’s culture could either support people to thrive, or set people up to fail. This realisation left her with some burning questions about the psychology of innovation. What are the conditions that determine whether people will be successful or fail?… In pursuit of answers to this question, Amy enrolled on a PhD programme. After 7 years of research, she passed her viva and was ready to focus her efforts on helping organisations and teams reach their lofty innovation goals.
Although she was armed with lots of knowledge and experience, something was still missing from her understanding of thriving. In her role as Director of Innovation, she saw that people often, unknowingly, hold themselves back from their own success. We carry our past with us and sometimes our past gets in the way of our future. But we DO have the power to overcome whatever is getting in our way, sometimes we just need a little help. This realisation was what led Amy to refocus her attention on Coaching. Coaching enables people to become the best version of themselves and frees them from what’s holding them back so they can create the life that they truly want. Every time a coaching client has a transformational ‘a-ha’ moment, Amy knows that she is doing the right thing. She also knows the world needs more coaches which is why she loves teaching coaching.
Teaching and training have underscored every stage of her career. Teaching is important to Amy because she gets to share what she has learned and what she loves. Amy’s main goal is for everyone she guides to leave with a love of coaching, psychology and innovation as well as the skills they’ll need to thrive.
